Resuscitation Update
Course Details
This is a 1 hour course open to all trust staff. It covers the causes and prevention of cardiac arrest, basic anatomy and physiology, the latest guidelines for CPR in and out of hospital, legal issues for staff involved in situations outside of work. Practical work with manikins, covering mouth to mouth breathing, use of pocket mask, and self-inflating bags and chest compressions.

Expected Learning Outcomes
- Understand the structured approach to assessing a collapsed patient Understand when and how to call for the Cardiac Arrest Team
- Be able to perform in hospital Basic life Support using equipment appropriate to their grade
- Have an understanding of AED usage, and the benefits fo early defibrillation
